Transition 1
Bike
Comments: Pushed it hard on the bike to try to exceed 20 mph. Probably paid for it on the run, but it was worth it. Felt a little queasy and had cramps on the ride, too. They left by the end of the ride. Transition 2
Comments: T2 was a bit of a mess. I tried to get out of my shoes before the dismount line but was only out of the left, so I clicked out of the right pedal and ran w/ one bike shoe on my R foot and my L shoe still on the pedal. Had to do a blood test b/c I was feeling weird on the bike (blood sugar was good, ~ 120). Ate a gu and walked out of T2 feeling pretty winded. What would you do differently?: Get fully out of both shoes earlier. Run
Comments: Had to walk a lot. Cold sponges were a great surprise. Post race
Event comments: I thought it was an outstanding event, overall. I'll come in again next year and do it, provided that they don't make it an even bigger race (1,500 really felt like the maximum that place could handle). BTW, the pic is of my friend Colin and I - neither of us finished on the podium, we just wanted a pic together. Last updated: 2011-08-07 12:00 AM
