Pre-race routine:

Very rushed this time. Ate half a bagel with peanut butter and some black coffee. Parking was a mess. By the time I got transition setup and used the bathroom, there was no time for a warm-up.
Event warmup:

None - except biking from our far away parking spot to the race site.
Swim
  • 04m 56s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

Despite this being a rather disorganized start overall, once we got near the start line, everything went smooth and without stress. I think I swam well though I've been slacking off my swim training a little lately. I slowed down at one point, getting caught behind someone. I thought she would let me pass at the wall, but she didn't, so I had to squeeze past in the next lane.
What would you do differently?:

Be more aggressive about passing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

First time biking without socks in a race. Went well.
What would you do differently?:

It had rained lightly while we were in the pool so I had to clean off my sunglasses. I should have covered everything up to save myself the trouble.
Bike
  • 24m 15s
  • 9 miles
  • 22.27 mile/hr
Comments:

My Garmin only read 7.3 miles so I wasn't really riding 22 mph!
What would you do differently?:

I was very happy with my bike leg this time out.
Transition 2
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Too slow. Not sure where the time went, but probably had to do with trying to get damp socks on.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to run without socks (Zoots on order!)
Run
  • 18m 8s
  • 2 miles
  • 09m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Slower than last year. Slower than usual.
What would you do differently?:

More bricks in practice.
Post race
Warm down:

Just hangin out with my family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Already peaked this season. Training has been a grind lately.

Event comments:

I think this race has outgrown this venue and I probably would not do it again unless they capped the participants. The start felt chaotic as they tried to get people to the right place. If the swim start had been the same as last year, it would have been easier I think. But overall it is a great experience - everyone is so encouraging and I like the laid back, non-hyper competitive atmosphere.
