The water was just too cold to swim normally. I did the backstroke for almost the entire way. From the time I jumped in I was hyperventilating and could not catch my breath. Far too cold for me.

Not do an open water swim in the middle of April.

Began to get shin splints. I think it was from the 5k I did the day before. I pushed too hard on the 5k and it started to aggravate my shins.
