Pre-race routine:

Parked a car near the finish the night before and had a neighbor drop my wife and me off near the start. I did not eat anything on race day as is my norm for morning starts. We visited the luxurious restrooms at the Ritz Carlton Buckhead in lieu of the porto-johns.
Event warmup:

Some light stretching in front of the Ritz and then lined up for the start in Time Group 1A (under 50:00 qualifier). This year they dropped the ropes and sort of mingled Time Groups 1A and 1B (under 55:00 qualifier). This caused a more crowded start and heavy traffic until at least the 3/4 mile mark, when typically you can run free from time group 1A somewhere around the 1/4 mile range.

Comments:

I was a little disappointed as I realized early on that this was not "my day" even though I had trained hard and hoped to run well under 45:00. My first mile was 7:40 clock time (about 7:10 actual time) and I should have been about 30 seconds faster. I think the traffic might have slowed me some and I wasted a lot of energy on mile 1 weaving.
I developed a foot blister at mile 3 on the bottom of my foot in the area just below where by big toe and second toe meet. This was after a fast downhill 3rd mile - probably pounded too hard. I fought through some stitches and a little shin pain but nothing serious.

I felt better once I learned that everyone was slowed by the tough finish and high humidity and I set my Peachtree PR by 5 seconds and made the top 1000 for the first time ever (Last year I was around 1300th even though I was only 5 seconds slower).
What would you do differently?:

I probably overtrained a little bit. I should have taken a good 4 days off to rest before reace day instead of two.
Post race
Warm down:

Right after the T-shirt area, we ducked through the barricade fence and walked the 4 blocks to our car, stretched a little and drove home. We dropped a friend off near the Grand Hyatt around 9:00am and Time Group 9 was just departing the Lenox area. It was already getting much hotter so we felt for them.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Foot blister didn't help, but mostly I just wasn't feeling it.
Hopefully I can heal my foot in time for the Carrollton Tri on Sunday the 13th!!

Event comments:

Always a great way to start the 4th. It makes eating all those hotdogs and drinking all those beers guilt free in the afternoon!

Performance: Average
I do not use a monitor or watch so I depend on the called splits at each mile which are clock time instead of chip time, but close enough for me to estimate my progress.
Course: New finish was brutal - just because everyone is used to the long downhill into the park and we were instead greeted with a mostly slight to moderate uphill to the finish at Ponce.
