  • 04m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

First ever tri swim, live in Iraq and no where to practice. Had hard time breathing. water cold felt shock when entering then water. couldnt breath at all. ended up back stroking 98% of swim.

PS is it bad when all life guards ask if i am all right?

this was expected
What would you do differently?:

more practice if applicable
Transition 1
  • 05m 6s
Comments:

1st transition ever. Didnt know what was needed to have on (race belt that didnt needed). Officials where helpful with letting me know what I didnt need and did need.

glad I wasnt the longest in T1=)
What would you do differently?:

set up in order. more practice getting into shoes. get in and out.
Bike
  • 43m 59s
  • 11 miles
  • 15.01 mile/hr
Comments:

Was shocked that I kept a good 90 cadence (from triathlete mag coach). Ride was shorter than i thought whenit was over. passed several participants and did not get passed, big motivator. Bike was very fast and firm love my new slice
What would you do differently?:

push harder, work on hills
Transition 2
  • 01m 37s
Comments:

was unsure how to T2. ran with bike and shoes on. changed shoes no socks.
What would you do differently?:

come out of shoes leaving shoes on bike. do not stop bike to get off leap off while in motion.
Run
  • 28m 5s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Started out slow pace for warm up but didnt get warmed up during the run. At the end had hard time putting in the extra effort i am used to doing at the end.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more before race. traveling from Iraq t race cut into training time
Post race
Warm down:

walked 15 minutes. stretched 10 minutes. plenty of food and hydration after cooldown

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Traveling From Iraq to US limited training time before race. Humidity and heat difference was almost unbearable. New equipment not used to.

1st tri ever. still was smiling most of the way and I finished without being passed what else could a first timer ask for?

Event comments:

this was my 1st but since I rate this after my second this had more volunteers, and those volunteers were very helpful. I ENJOYED every minute of it
