Run
Comments: Slow start- had to spend a lot of time jogging AROUND walkers and dead slow runners. Felt great up until mile 2- got my feet caught in a jogging stroller and went down hands-first. Recovered after about a minute- hands hurt like hell and ankle twisted slightly. Found myself walking through aid stations. 5K split was 34'11. Took 1/2 an Accel Gel (Kiwi Strawberry- Yum), dropped my pace to a 10 minute mile. At mile 4 took the rest of the gel with a lot of water. Still felt really good at this point. Dropped my run pace to a 9-minute mile. Finished race @ 57:14. I think I could have easily been below 55 minutes. As the first race of the year I wanted to go out easy and avoid injury. NExt race I'll raise my pace considerably. What would you do differently?: Go faster and harder- the training plan I'm on is working! Post race
Event comments: Really fun- lot of amatuers out there. It's always a big difference between a Tri and a regular running race. Definitely would do this again next year. Last updated: 2009-04-26 12:00 AM

3 espressos when I woke up. 36 ounces of water. V8 and 3 tylenol.
Stretched- spent considerable time on inner thighs and glutes. No run- just a good long stride walk for a mile. Started @ the back of the pack- I like to blow by the walkers and super slow runners.
