Swim
Comments: Water temp was suprisingly nice!! A quick yikes this is cold, then right into a nice rythm. Felt like I swam well(really concentrated on full strokes), but the course was obviously short. (wish I knew what the real distance was to know my true pace!). Fairly crowded even past the turn buoy, couldn't find any heels to latch onto, as is usual for me. Headed for the far orange buoy, and realized very late that the turn buoy was YELLOW! Had to then swim out to get to it, and around and back in. Only cost me a bit though, Im sure! Run up to T1 was crowded with slow walkers, so had to go out of the cones to pass! Not much water in the rinse buckets! What would you do differently?: train? be even more thankfull that the course was short? Transition 1
Comments: feet still a bit sandy, but didn't have a water bottle to rinse with (forgot...) No biggy though. What would you do differently?: bring water bottle to squirt feet off. Bike
Comments: legs were a bit weak starting the bike. THEN, my donkey jumped off the bike at about mile 2-3. I heard something plastic hit the ground, looked down and expected to see my bike comp. missing. Nope, it was there but Donkey wasn't!!! Decisions..stop, go get him, hope he catches up...(didn't stop, he didn't catch up) Now I have to find a new Donkey Pez dispenser. Rode hard, but realizing that I put comfortable for the pace, I maybe could have pushed a bit more? Passed alot of girls. (all women started together). Tried hard to chase down an overall position, but wasn't happening! Bit of wind on the way out, but neg split significantly with the tail wind back. What would you do differently?: Focus on knowing my limit on the bike, and hit it! Transition 2
Comments: Pretty good T2, tried for under a minute... What would you do differently?: Take gatorade with me, and leave bottle on at the run exit, rather than drink a few gulps while IN T2. May have netted me the 8 seconds. Run
Comments: Good solid run. Mile markers a bit off...RTP's garmin said the run was 2.93 miles so my avg really was 7:36, which seems pretty accurate. I ran hard, chasing down overall places. Got a couple. Not sure where I ended up, 7th?? Maybe 8th. Did stop for water at the turn around. Walked and drank. What would you do differently?: wonder if I could have gutted out a few more seconds off pace? Need to do some short stuff in the next few weeks, just expirement. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, then went out with Clints dad who was just starting the run. Did his 5k with him, walk/jog...what a nice guy, great sense of humor! DJ walked with us for the first and last mile. What limited your ability to perform faster: Happy with my race, getting off the sz med definitly made today better than last weeks race! Still having wt issues (need to gain a few pounds), and some weakness. FUN race, really enjoyed myself!! Was really cool finishing 1-2-3 with newguy (patrick), RTP (pete) and myself! 3 donkey's in a row, DJ thanked us for making it easier for him and Nicole to cheer for us!! Event comments: well organized, well marked course. wish they had posted results for my race, but they only posted the womens. Some issue with the printer or something. Thinking I'd like to really focus and train for speed, and improve my times, rather than training for halfs. (which I wanted to do this year, before head issues, couldn't last year due to stupid hip injury!!) But, that said, I did enjoy the two times I did the SOR half. Last updated: 2009-07-12 12:00 AM

Up earlier than needed to, snuggled the Allie girl for awhile! Blueberry Pop Tarts and Diet Pepsi on the way to the race. Set up transition, hung out with family Weninger until race start. Did see Amy Noie (miami9296) before starting. Pretty excited about the weather, sunshine, some wind (increased as day went on).
Did not warm up, just very quick stretch prior to swim.
