Event warmup:

walked beach...short swim
Swim

  • 437 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

good swim, bumped guys in front for last 100 yds or so. was really crowded as we rounded last bouy...seemed like about 12 guys all finishing close together. forgot to start my watch timer
What would you do differently?:

swim faster and start watch timer
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

pretty quick, but not sure since transitions were added to other times
Bike
  • 26m 57s
  • 10 miles
  • 22.26 mile/hr
Comments:

good bike. started at 20 pace and kicked it for last 5
What would you do differently?:

start a bit faster with a short bike leg
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

not sure since transitions were added to other times. poor t2. put on shoes and started out..forgot my calf compression sleeve, thought about running without it, got worried and took shoe off, put on sleeve, shoe back on, and out to run...wasted time, but it may have been a good thing. Calf is still sore from injury - calf tear
What would you do differently?:

make sure to lay out gear so as to not forget something...calf sleeve on top of shoes maybe
Run
  • 27m 36s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

not a great run. still not back into running shape and calf/achilles still sore. Very nervous about running hard. Felt decent, maybe could have pushed harder. Not sure about time, t2 added in somewhere..thought i was on about an 8:30 pace once i was out and running. Looking forward to feeling 100% and improving run time
Post race
Warm down:

lots of walking around and eating red beans and rice :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

calf injury still holding back run, but overall I felt pretty good about it

Event comments:

enjoyed and will return next year
