Total Time = 1h 06m 51s
Overall Rank = 86/289
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 13/24
Pre-race routine:

Peanut butter bagel, 1 cup of coffee, and 2 propel waters
Event warmup:

walking around and setting up transition
Swim
  • 09m 15s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 06s / 100 yards
Comments:

Perfect conditions for the swim. Held my line in the water and was able to stay in the pack w/o getting beat up. Sighting and navigation was perfect.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. This was best swim to date.
Transition 1
  • 01m
Comments:

Long run from swim exit to transtion (low tide)
What would you do differently?:

Struggled a bit getting my bike out. My seat fits under the rack fine with no other bikes on it. Add a couple of bikes and it gets stuck. I will set up transtion on the other side of bike next time.
Bike
  • 29m 34s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.29 mile/hr
Comments:

Slight crosswind 5mph WSW. Fast and flat course.
What would you do differently?:

COuld have pushed a little harder. Need to pedal up every couple minutes and try to grab another gear.
Transition 2
  • 00m 46s
Comments:

Perfectly executed T2
Run
  • 26m 16s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty good pace, again probably could have pushed a little harder
What would you do differently?:

Good calf stretches and roll calf with "the stick" to get my legs warmed up before the race. Left calf was tight and cramped a little on the run.
First time running w/o socks in a race. I managed to rip the toenails off both my pinky toes which added a good bit of discomfort during the run and probably cost me a couple minutes.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for a bit and did my usual stretches

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Tight calf and ripped off toenails. Still could have pushed harder on the bike and/or the run.

Event comments:

Although I didn't have any problems, my wife and others said there were several athletes that got off course at teh end of the run. The end of the run was a bit ackward with a run to the end of the road, U-turn that took you back towards transition but had a quick left turn to finish. Volunteer coordinator seemed to be a little on a power trip. She sounded very condescending the few times I heard her giving instructions to body markers and transition area monitors.
