Just trying to get everyone coordinated and over there. Only drank water.

Comments:

Swallowed a couple of gulps of saltwater trying to get into the waves, but felt fine once I rounded the first bouy. Waves took me a little wide on the way back in and had to run back to the entrance, but felt like I navigated well other than that.
What would you do differently?:

Practice running into the waves before the actual start.

What would you do differently?:

I really need to either practice getting my shoes on freestanding or make sure I rack my bike in a place with something to lean on or bring a stool.

Wear my camelback and eat something. I don't know why I didn't take a couple bites out of my cliff bar during transition as I planned, but I do know that I didn't drink enough because I did not want to slow down to pick up a bottle.

What would you do differently?:

Get speed laces which I knew I wanted before the race, but just never got around to getting them.

It's really not fair to call this a run since I did much more walking than running.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more and eat something either pre-race or prior to the bike. I was just totally spent by the run.

Lack of adequate nutrition.

Event comments:

This was a really fun race even if there did seem to be a bit of disorganization. You got the feeling that everyone was just there to have a good time and that's what everyone did.

I felt really good on the bike - passed a good number of people and lots with bikes nicer than mine.

Course: Out and back down the beach highway. The biggest obstacles were the bridge, ouch, and all of the debris on the road. Many, many people were on the side of the road changing tires. I just kept pumping away praying it wouldn't happen to me especially since it did on Thursday.
