Pre-race routine:

Packed the night before, had cake for Earl's birthday, then slept like crap. Larabar and pop for breakfast. Sipped on a water bottle everytime I noticed it while setting up transition.
Event warmup:

10 minutes of easy running with a couple strides, and some easy swimming.

Comments:

Thought I was starting in the front on the outside, but ended up in the front middle. Paniced a bit the fist couple hundred but then I found an opening and was able to relax. Pushed a little harder on the back when there was yet more space.

Felt good. Course is actually 5k. Talked with a Now guy going up the hill, almost caught him in the end.
What would you do differently?:

This is the first race of the year, but I need to get better at learning how hard I can push, felt like there was more speed left when I kicked the last 1/4 mile or so.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

First race of the year, working the kinks out. Beat last year by almost 5 minutes, I'm very happy about that.

Event comments:

For the cost when you sign up around Christmas, this race can't be missed.
