Swim
Comments: Pretty much down to business. Seeded myself just about perfectly. I caught the guy in front of me at about 150 and swam it in on his draft. I may have given up just a bit of time not trying to pass him, but at 25m lanes it would have probably been more trouble than it's worth. What would you do differently?: Nada. Swim more and get faster. Transition 1
Comments: The way the course was setup made it a bit hard to get into your shoes on the bike. No incidents, but it cost me a few seconds. Also, looooonnnnggggg run on gravel from the pool to the bike racks. What would you do differently?: Get some more calluses on the bottom of my feet. Walk on glass / fire in the off season. Bike
Comments: I felt like I did well on the bike, kind of surprised two people beat me on the split to be honest as I was fastest last year and cut a good 20" off that time this year. I guess I'm not the only one that trains ;) What would you do differently?: Get stronger! Transition 2
Comments: The bike dismount was actually UPhill... which made jumping off the bike a seemingly bad idea. I just hopped off once I got to the line and avoided any embarrassment of falling on my face. Cost me a second or two, but I think it was a fair trade What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: Run felt pretty terrible right from the beginning. I kept trying to suck down more air than my body could get. Felt like I was hugging the redline the whole way. Saw one of the guys in my AG ahead of me and wasn't sure what the difference in our start time was (I was about a minute back as it turns out) and had it in my head I needed to catch him. Took me to the last 200m or so to do it, but finally did. Sprinted it in when I saw the finish line, felt like I left it all out there. What would you do differently?: Run MORE! Post race
Warm down: Haha, sucked air. Enjoyed a nice Coca Cola and talked with "the guys" and the family. Good times. What limited your ability to perform faster: Gotta pay my dues. I'm getting faster (almost 2 minutes faster than last year at the same race... felt pretty good in a race this short to cut that kind of time) As it turned out, I ended up with 3rd Overall! My first Overall placing in a race! Even being such a short race, it feels great to OA place at my "reunion" race. Still have plenty of work ahead of me. And hey, I didn't get lost this time! Event comments: Martin and co. do a good job, consistently. This race was no exception. Last updated: 2011-07-09 12:00 AM

Not my normal. I spent all night Friday working on my front brake / wheel. Turned out to be a loose spoke on my 404... sadly I spent about 4 hours working on the brake. Got about 5 hours sleep, really didn't feel that great going into it.
Nonetheless, this was the first race I ever did, so it holds a special place in my heart. I always want to do well here.
Had a ride through the bike course to make sure I remembered it. Swam a lap or two and just pretty much hung around. Nothing all that exciting.
