Pre-race routine:

Got up ~4:45, had bagel w/PB and a banana for breakfast; Got dressed and was on the road by 5:40 (in the rain by the way). Met Dave and Laura at the Y at 6:22 (that was the original plan - it was more like 6:25). We picked up Mary and headed to Bath. We parked at that white building across from Phillips Lighting. We hung out in the car, used the facilities, and then Laura and I jumped on a shuttle to the start line. Dave and Mary walked or ran up. The shuttle worked really well and dropped us right by about a zillion porta potties. We jumped in that short line and then made our way to the start.
Event warmup:

None. Just stood around with the pack waiting for the start. I had a throwaway shirt on that I kept on until just before we started. It had briefly stopped raining, but started again as we waited for the start.

Comments:

The weather was miserable, but at least is wasn't hot! As we were waiting for the start, the rain started again and didn't let up until I was at maybe mile 16 or so. I was drenched and my hands were freezing, but the rest of me was OK.

I started with the 4:10 pace group (9:33 pace). I stayed with them until about the half. I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to stick with them the whole time, but I think running with them helped me to run a smarter first half. I never felt like I was absolutely dying (though I could've done without the rain). I only walked a few steps at one water stop in Coopers - it hurt too much to walk/restart so I didn't walk at all the rest of the way. I felt WAY better in the late miles than I ever have.
What would you do differently?:

Train more! I had some really low mileage weeks, but I wouldn't trade my dawn run down the Champs Elysees for a few more minutes at this race! I also missed my 20 after a really cold open water swim (who knew that would be good marathon training!).
Post race
Warm down:

Crossed the line, got my foil blanket and medal, saw Chris, then Keith and Jackie. Stopped to talk briefly, but then walked around the barricade to where they were and my parents joined us. Talked for a little while and saw Michele finish. Wandered into parking garage in search of food (mostly just soup). My paernts drove me back to my car at the Y where I was able to change into dry clothes before the drive home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training volume!

Event comments:

There is something to be said for home field advantage and a flatter course. I don't know if it was that I am familiar with the whole course or what, but it seemed to go by quickly. The event was very well organized with the exception of the start. I don't know how people missed that the start wasn't at Phillips this year as it seemed pretty clear to me. Waiting 15 minutes extra in the rain for the start was not fun!

Overall, I was really happy with my race!
