Swim
Comments: I really wanted this to be a good swim. It wasn't to be. I started in a bad position. Pretty much in the middle of everything. The gun went off and within about 1 min, i got kicked square between the eyes. That leg to by goggles leaking, which led to my HR going up, which led to my wetsuit feeling tight, which tried to lead to a full on freak out. I was able to calm myself down and started swimming. Once I made the turn I was feeling good again and started to pick up the pace. Problem was that now I was with some slower people and didn't have anyone to draft off of, so I just had to pick my way through the crowd. I probably lost 2-3 minutes on the swim. What would you do differently?: Get in an OWS with the wetsuit before the race. I hadn't swam in open water or with the suit since Augusta. Transition 1
Comments: Nothing really special here. Long run from the swim exit to T1. Bike
Comments: I was kinda angry coming out of the swim. Knew it was going to be a hard ride so from the start I just pushed and never really let up. I passed a lot of people at the beginning. At about the 10 mile mark it was a group of about 5 of us all going the same speed. We all leap frogged each other for most of the way back into town. It was a hard ride, but a good one for me. Np: 219 What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was probably my best ride to date. Transition 2
Comments: Nothing much here either. I was pretty smooth. I took a little extra time and put socks on b/c my feet were feeling it after the bike. Probably a good move. Run
Comments: I knew the run was going to suck after biking that hard, but that was the point of the day. I came out of T2 and there is a small uphill. On the downhill I tried to lengthen my stride but every time I tried to, my right hamstring started to cramp so I just stayed with the shorter strides. Finally getting onto the greenway, I was able to open my stride up a litte. After about 3 miles I was hurting. I got a pick me up making the turn around seeing some people I knew. Mile 4-5 was a struggle. It was back up a long hill. I just focused on keeping my legs moving even though I was really thinking about taking a break. Never did though. Once I saw the finish I started "sprinting" I don't think I went much faster. It was sad. What would you do differently?: I think I put together about as strong as a run as I could. Post race
Warm down: Collapsed under a tent. Right hamstring finally cramped after about 30 mins. I was spent. Event comments: First Rev3 event and it was a very well organized race. I would definitely come back again. Last updated: 2012-04-19 12:00 AM

The ususal. Had some breakfast, setup transition.
Not much for this race. The swim start was a good walk from transition, so I had to head down there early with just my swim stuff.
