Pre-race routine:

1st triathlon so really took my time getting set up and becoming familiar with. Ate the usual...Fiber One muffins and a Mt Dew. Had a Vitamin Water right before walk to water.
Event warmup:

Light stretching. 5 minute jog.
Swim
  • 30m 45s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not just first triathlon, but first open water swim too. Was pretty intimidated. Heart rate skyrocketed for the first 2-300 meters. Once I got away from the pack, I settled down and had a nice swim. Was really happy with 30:45.
What would you do differently?:

I need to sight better. I also need to try an keep form at race start. Not going to complain though.
Transition 1
  • 06m 49s
Comments:

Horrible T1. .25 mile run uphill into transition. My HR was redlined. Really took my time in transition. Even had to grab my knees for a few seconds. Terrible feeling. I'm pretty embarrassed about the T1 time.
What would you do differently?:

Should have stripped suit at bottom of hill and run with it. I'll try to chalk this up to inexperience.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 25s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 19.51 mile/hr
Comments:

HR settled down within 5 minutes on the bike. I dint know how to handle the bike leg. Took it too easy. Could have pushed a little more. AM still pleased with results since it's my first. Didn't get passed much. Passed a lot of others. (Many of which were riding 5000+ bikes..haha). Had 48 oz of water, 2 GUs, and 3 or 4 Shot Bloks.
What would you do differently?:

Could have pushed a little harder
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 52m 44s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Awesome run course. Most was shaded. Had 3 GUs on course and 2-3 Shot Bloks. Had cup of water every mile. I felt great. Really disappointed that I didnt finish better. I definitely could have. Was a little scared of crashing. Ran a 7:30 on the last mile. Too little, too late. Legs felt great after I finished. Could have kept going.
What would you do differently?:

Push a little harder. Didn't know my limits. Still dont.
Post race
Warm down:

Light stretching. Ate lunch :).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience.

Event comments:

Going to give it a 4 but I have nothing to compare it to. I hated the long run in wetsuit up to T1. Everything was perfect after that.
