Event warmup:

This is a local race for me, so I get to ride the bike to and from. Got there early. Got marked, set up transition, and ended up waiting in the chip line for 20+ minutes. The chip line was so slow they ended up pushing back the start of the frace by 30-minutes.

No swim warm up is available the way things are presently organized.
Swim
  • 10m 57s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim for me, especially with my lack of recent swim time. Had a goggle issue about half-way that cost me 30-seconds to get taken care of.
What would you do differently?:

About time for new goggles.
Transition 1
  • 02m 46s
Comments:

Good transition. Brisk jog from water to bike. Suit came off easy. Took extra time to towel off due to the cold weather.
Bike
  • 38m 55s
  • 15 miles
  • 23.13 mile/hr
Comments:

Good ride for me. Only passed twice, and must have passed about 150-people. Could have pushed harder, but felt I had a nice effort.

I was pacing with my Garmin. The goal was to ride 24+ mph, and the Garmin had me at a 24.3 or 24.4 average for the ride. Not sure what's going on with their timing. Maybe timing mats are in a weird spot, or the course is a little longer than what the timing people are using in their calculations. Several other people I talked with report the same issue.
What would you do differently?:

Could have done some back-and-forth passing with the first guy who passed me? Also, I meant to remove my flat kit but forgot all about it. This could have saved me about 5 or 10 seconds!
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

Good transition
Run
  • 23m 10s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run for me. Not sure I can get too much faster without loosing some weight and doing some speed work....and doesn't that take effort? Ended up "spent", but not fall-on-the-ground-puking spent, so there must be a little more capacity there if I can dig deep enough to find it. A nice goal would be 7-min miles for 5k.

Event comments:

Great venue = great race...but they sure ran late this year. This was year #6 for me, and that's never happened before!
