Pre-race routine:

Ran around like a crazy man making sure my 6 year old enjoyed and was safe during her KOS event!
Event warmup:

Short swim and light jog
Swim
  • 22m 19s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Just a disaster, the water was great, I started great but swam way way off course for the 2nd straight time. Terrible sighting by me, foggy goggles didn't help... not a strong swimmer anyways (would have been 18 minutes on an average day). I didn't need my garmin to show me after I was all over the place, way way off course at times. At one point I looked to my left and realized the next wave was passing me, almost 75 meters away, I had swam way off course.
What would you do differently?:

practice open water swimming and sighting, swimming with my head up every 10 strokes.
Transition 1
  • 02m 55s
Comments:

Second time getting a wetsuit off went way better! Still need to do it faster but overall an improvement. Mounting was a bit of adventure due to the quick hill, sharp turn at the mount line and wet shoes - just ran an extra 10 feet up the little hill and jumped in.
What would you do differently?:

continue to work on getting out of my suit faster
Bike
  • 43m 30s
  • 20 kms
  • 27.45 km/hr
Comments:

Loved the ride, the rain didn't help but the course was familiar and great. I'm not the fastest rider but improving so happy.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on improving my strength and learning better gear strategy.
Transition 2
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Not sure why I took so long, long transition area, had my shoes off and runners on in no time.
Run
  • 28m
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 36s  min/km
Comments:

Loved the run. felt great, lots of crowd interaction on the course, i saw my family 4 times in 5 KM! Loads of water options, great finish through the park after coming down the hill.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Forgot to stretch, was too excited to complete my first Sprint, see my family, my club teammates, etc.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Swimming all over the lake instead of straight. I blame my mom for birthing me crooked.

Event comments:

An outstanding race. Any level - Olympic - tough course, great field. Sprint - average course, strong field but still some hacks/beginners like me, a great starter or competitive course to test. Give-it-a-Try - great course also for beginners, easy swim, moderate bike and easy run.
Plus great KOS events.

Aprox 5:23, 5:35, 6:10, 5:30, 5:15.... great splits, very happy, the 6:10 was also 2 water stations which I walked through to give me a few seconds to drink.
Course: Out and back up one steep hill, across Robert Street and then into the running trail that was great to run on. Lots of water and minimal hills. Lots of shade.
