Swim
Comments: After 150 yrds or so, got in some traffic, breathing got labored and was never the same. Got into breast stroke but felt like I had no pull, some side stroke and floating on my back added to the frustration. What would you do differently?: In this warm water there was no need for a wet suit. It definitely did not help make me any faster. I did not practice with it. So there was at least two mistakes, One I would not use the wet suit again if the water is warm enough. I am a good enough swimmer. Two would be practice with the wet suite as the tightness hurt my breathing and as a full suit made me work harder and loose feal for the water. Transition 1
Comments: Wet suite might have slowed me down some but it was a decent transition considering. I put my shoes on in transition What would you do differently?: Practice clipping in as this slowed me down some trying to get up the first hill right outside transition. Bike
Comments: Again had some nice back and forth with a few riders and passed a number of people. The ride started out a bit rough as my breathing was still recovering from the swim but once I focussed on a nice even cadence and steady effort, then things went pretty well. Took a nice bite of powerbar at mile 5-6 and kept motoring. What would you do differently?: Other than more specific training, not much. Transition 2
Comments: Slowed down here a bit as I put socks on but was not expecting any run PR so I took a little extra time. What would you do differently?: Focus a bit more, have zip laces, and get back on the course. Run
Comments: Lots of walking which has been my theme lately. Did finish the last 1/2 strong, worked to catch this on lady with a NYC runner shirt as she looked labored but was not going to let me pass. A fun finish. What would you do differently?: Need more run miles each week Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some water, shook some hands, changed, eat a bannana and bagel, packed up and went home. Felt pretty strong and was not until later in the afternoon that I felt a bit tired. What limited your ability to perform faster: My frustration on the swim affected a lot but looking at the results I think it shows a much more well rounded athlete who just needs a better base. Event comments: This is the third year in this event. It is a challenge in a nice distance, close to home in a great setting. Last updated: 2014-07-28 12:00 AM

Up about 4:30, Load bike and bag in car. Stopped for a bagel and chocolate milk along the way and arrived about 5:30.
Warmed up really quick on the bike for 1/2 mile or so. Stopped at bike tent for a check up and then went to set up transition.
