Swim
Comments: Lot of distance between each turn. Very little contact but a lot of occasion to draft. One of the buoy was either hidden by the sun or a fountain or both. I ended up doing a detour like many other competitors. I accelerated to catch up for lost time and in the process reached the buoy from the inside before another competitor. I ended up having my first experience being swimmed over! I had something to tell my friends after the race :) What would you do differently?: I did great! Next time I will spend time reading the trajectory before getting in the water to avoid the detour. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: City bike, with turns and needles. No hills at all. I lacked energy for the km 30 - 35 and got a second wind for 35-40. One of the competitor cut me on a corner and I barely avoided the manhole. Experience rubbing in full speed! What would you do differently?: have a better breakfast and bike more before the events to pace properly. Transition 2
Run
Comments: I was exhausted before starting to run. All I I wanted was survive and be proud of my result. Since I thought I was doing very bad and pushed harder and ended up surprising myself in the end result. (I don't have a watch...) I Still have pain in my foot (since winter) which also prevents me from training and racing properly. (plantar fascitis) What would you do differently?: better pacing on the bike, improve capabilities on the bike to be more fresh on the run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: plantar fascitis and lack of experience. Event comments: Big city event. The start was slightly delayed due to boats in the way. The event is all flat, no hills. Being in a city, there are lots of turns and needles on the bike. The organisation is huge, lots of volunteers everywhere who encouraged and guided us.
