Swim
Comments: Went out slow, Never felt stressed but did not give it enough effort and pack got away, still getting comfortable with 1,500m, about 4-6 minutes off competitive pace What would you do differently?: need to push harder and pick up pace Transition 1
Comments: Poor transition, left helmet and glasses on bike, when got to transition they were thrown around and helmet strap broke, could not get it snapped and improvised trying to tie strap, slow getting off wetsuit What would you do differently?: need to keep all items on ground, check equipment ahead of time better Bike
Comments: Never road the course before, dealing with helmet strap and some ridged road surface which caused concern and slowed me down, averaged 21 mph through 20 miles and then last 4.5 only 18.5 mph, hit the bridge incline and some wind and quit on the bike too soon, usually my strongest leg but not today What would you do differently?: don't quit on the bike until I am at transition Transition 2
Comments: glad to get rid of the helmet, not bad otherwise Run
Comments: Good run and best leg of the race, felt very strong and sprinted last mile - 6:38, closed on a few at the end, avg 7:33 which was improvement over last Tri What would you do differently?: start the close a little earlier, about 3 miles out instead of 2 Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim is work in progress, helmet issue and road surface hurt some confidence to go faster on the bike Event comments: This was a great experience and worth the hassle of getting there. Best swim venue I've seen. Fun to go up against top competition even if it is a little humbling, could see many areas for improvement having done it once. Last updated: 2015-08-10 12:00 AM
