Pre-race routine:

My usual routine was shaken up a bit due to some odd knee issues. The two days prior to the race I did a fair amount of driving and my left knee would be stiff after being in the same position for a couple of hours. Walking around would loosen it up but it was still troublesome as this was not a normal occurrence.

The night before I enjoyed my usual pre-race sushi dinner then went to sleep early. In the middle of the night I awoke and my troublesome knee was complaining due to sleeping with it bent. I was able to straighten it out with some coaxing and fall back asleep. In the morning my knee was still sore and I questioned even doing the race at all. As a test, I did some fast pace walking and slow jogging with promising results.
Event warmup:

Drove up to the race site at a winery and warmed up my legs. So far my knee was cooperating as I lined up at the start line. The weather was cloudy and threatening scattered showers, perfect fall running weather!

Comments:

With my knee being troublesome I decided my goal of this race was to finish and not worry about pace or time. At the starting gun I let most of the runners go ahead and I tentatively started jogging at an easy pace. The knee was holding up pretty well; loose, pain free, and only a little twinge every 20-30 steps. As I finished the first mile the twinge cleared up and I settled into an easy, steady pace.

The scenery was a mix of vineyards and pastures dotted with oak trees. Gentle rolling terrain made for an easy run. The only real challenge was the long hill at mile 10 with a steep but short climb out of a river bed. As I made my way up the climb the scattered showers finally caught up with me, the light rain was nice and helped keep me cool.

The final miles breezed by and my legs started to get tired. Fortunately my knee held up the entire run. As the finish line came into view I kept my pace steady instead of trying for a strong push as to not aggravate my knee. Coasting across the finish line I completed one of my slowest half-marathons but at the same time one of my most satisfying.
What would you do differently?:

Considering the issues I had with my knee I'm happy with how I did.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched my legs and enjoyed some fresh fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My knee was the main factor for a slow run. Fortunately it loosened up quickly and didn't give me any troubles. Funny enough, it feels much better now! Seems like a good run is all it needed.

Event comments:

Nice small race in beautiful wine country.
