Comments:

Run was very good. The only problem was I was sick to my stomach for the rest of the day (threw up once and had the trots the rest of the day).
What would you do differently?:

eat a little less before the race (1/2 bagel). Perhaps try staying with the 2 hour group for motivation. I fell back after 2 miles because I was worried about going out too fast, but maybe I could have handled it?
Post race
Warm down:

none

What limited your ability to perform faster:

hills

Event comments:

This is a small but well-run and beautiful race in the capitol of Kentucky. I really like it. Of course, it helps I won my age group!

Performance: Good
1-8:59 - with 2 hour pace group - flat 2-8:58 - - flat 3-9:14 - up&around capitol building- dropped off group 4-9:45 - up big hill to cemetary (really off pace here) 5-9:44 - into cemetary & rolling hills in cemetary 6-8:18-out of cemetary & down hill - flew thru here. 7-9:30 - relatively downhill & flat thru downtown (got stitch here? - why so slow?) 8- 9:07 - ***critical mile in which I bore down & pushed thru stitch after water stop 9-9:29- over bridge & along river, rolling hills 10-9:02 - bore down again, strong mile (turnaround at 9.7 was motivating) 11-9:38- pushed thru another mile, not sure why so slow? 12-9:12- trying to really do it here. 13.1 - 10:00 - this was a tough end, but I pushed hard since this is a 9:05/mile pace.
Course: VERY hilly course. 1 massive hill during mile 4, also long & slow hill during 3. rolling hills 9-13.
