Pre-race routine:

Cinnamon Raisin Bagel, light cream cheese OJ.. Everything prepped the night before. front tire was low on air, filled that up.. Dirty transition area, so set up my space. Use tang this race for fuel/hydration (returned to my roots, plus it's the drink of astronauts.

Achilles tendonitis flared up, so I tried to keep it light.

I was hurtin for certain. Achilles messed up my gait, which aggravated the arthritis in my hip which aggravated the arthritis in my knee. I was a mess.
What would you do differently?:

Probably should have charged my watch and maybe not raced.

I love this race. The numbers are way down from the past. I think that is an issue for the entire sport.

I decided to swim an extra 300 meters.
Suit: Sleeveless
Course: Well marked, didn't help my navigation. It was two loops and I overturned on the second loop. Not enough lifeguards and so I swam 300 meters off course. I Realized I was off course when I looked up and saw nothing but Lake Huron. I was swimming to Canada. haha
