Comments: This wasn't a spectacular run for me, but I'll take the podium :) I did a pretty extended warm up/ pre race run. It was a tough area though because EVERYTHING is hilly and it was hard to get into a groove even warming up. Then I also made a killer mistake - I didn't double knot the shoes before the race... At 1.5 miles I had to STOP and retie. The 2nd place girl finished only 4 seconds in front of me... I thought I was going to catch her with my kick at the end because she had slowed in the last mile and I was catching her (she passed me while I was tying my shoe.) I matched her kick, but I couldn't pass her. Another 200 yds and I would have had her. She also puked on the finish line... What would you do differently?: Double knot or speed laces... Post race
Warm down: fun run 1/2 mile with the kids and playing around. The kids loved thier race too!! Oh and collect my first TROPHY :) That was kinda fun! What limited your ability to perform faster: my shoe, the wind and mentally raising myself to this type of a race Event comments: It was for a good cause and it was pretty well set up - although there was a small issue with the babysitting drop off before the race.
