Pre-race routine:

I got up at 4:30, got dressed and waited for Mike to help me get there. We made good time getting there and were breakfast for about 1,000 mosquitos. Had an english muffin with peanut butter (thanks Karen) and a banana for breakfast.
Event warmup:

I got my transition area set up and just walked around a bit. I got remarked and waited in line to pee.
Swim
  • 12m 48s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 27s / 100 yards
Comments:

It was my first tri and only my second open water swim. I felt ok. I didn't swim the crawl the whole time, because I wasn't too sure on my navagation. Overall, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
What would you do differently?:

More open water swims.
Transition 1
  • 04m 51s
Comments:

I still am wearing socks so it took a bit of time to rinse my feet and get my socks and shoes on. I grabbed a couple shot blocks and a little water and was off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 34m 10s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.32 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt really strong on the bike. A couple of people passed me, but I just kept my pace. I don't think I would change anything.
Transition 2
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

I was actually suprised how quickly I did this transition.
Run
  • 33m 43s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 10m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I am not yet a very strong runner. I kept waiting for the runners high to kick in, but sadly it never did. I hopefully will become stronger for the next one.
What would you do differently?:

run faster
Post race
Warm down:

Got kisses and hugs from family and friends. Walked around a bit and finished feeding the mosquitoes in the park with my blood.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing except physical ability at the moment.

Event comments:

For my first race, I had an awesome time. I had some great cheering sections (thanks Karen, Mike, Kristin, Gary, Joanne, Luke & Liam) and I had a lot of fun. I will really work on my running and more on my swimming for the next one, but this was a blast.
