Pre-race routine:

Ate a banana and a handfull of cheerios 2 hours before start. Ate a powerbar 45 min. before start. Sipped 20 oz. of gatorade. Set up transition area, tried to stay warm
Event warmup:

Swam 300 m. in the pool, streatched.
Swim
  • 06m 33s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a great swim time. My personal best is 6:10 at this distance, but that is without crossing under lanes. I only passed one person, but that was ok.
What would you do differently?:

Be more agressive, and try to pass a few more people.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Shouldn't have worn socks, but I have new shoes and didn't feel like they were broken in enough to ride with bare feet.
What would you do differently?:

no socks
Bike
  • 52m 51s
  • 11.2 miles
  • 12.72 mile/hr
Comments:

Missing that turn ruined an otherwise perfect race. I would have been about 3rd in my age group off the bike, which would have been very good for me. I was mad about it. Getting back on course, I did manage to pass about 50 people, which was kind of fun. I also had a problem with my seatpost dropping. It is a new bike, and apperently the carbon on carbon mix doesn't keep the post in place well unless you sand it first.
What would you do differently?:

Don't miss the turn. Warm up a little more before hitting it hard. Stay in the drops more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

First one, i guess it went fine.
What would you do differently?:

Again, no socks
Run
  • 26m 3s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 24s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a PB on the run for me. I was very pleased, but wonder what i could have done if I had not ridden so far off course and then pushed it too hard to catch up. I was happy with the run.
What would you do differently?:

Push it a little more.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate food and streatched. Nothing big.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Getting off course. Minor sideache on the run. Wearing socks affected transitions.

Event comments:

It would have been fine, but they needed to make the bike course more clear. Missing that one turn hurt me bad, and I understand that several people did the same thing. That was a big mistake for the race dirrector.
