Overall Rank = 190/407
Age Group = 28
Age Group Rank = 26/40
Pre-race routine:

Nothing. Still suffering from the stomach bug. had to leave the house at 4:30am to get down there
Event warmup:

Too cold/windy. I did splash some water on me, it was very cold.
Swim
  • 06m 9s
  • 400 meters
  • 01m 30s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was very rough. I was ready for it from last year. Mixed up breast stroke and freestyle and was able to finish it without wasting too much energy.
What would you do differently?:

Try to do more freestyle swimming.
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

I am getting much better at the transitions. I thought it was a very good time considering the 100m run up the beach and all the sand that was on me.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 53m 55s
  • 17.5 miles
  • 19.47 mile/hr
Comments:

I knew on the way out when I was "cruising" at 25mph that there was going to be a tough wind coming back. I decided to Stay around 26-27 and then spin through the wind on the way back. When I made the turn on the way back it was like hitting a brick wall. It wore my legs out. What pissed me off is when I saw all of the people drafting on the way back in, talk about integrity!
What would you do differently?:

Draft, I guess, so that I can get some of the times these guys did
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Another good transition
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 38m 54s
  • 4 miles
  • 09m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

Terrible. The bug got to me here. I had no energy. Legs felt fine, breathing was not very hard, but I just could not go hard. I thought about quitting several times but I decided I would just learn from this experience. I learned the value of nutrition. It is vital for the race day
What would you do differently?:

Not get the bug.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was ready to go, but the bug got to me

Event comments:

Another great one for the Flora Bama. Much more lax than a USAT event. The drafting on the bike was out of control.
