What would you do differently?: Adjust my wetsuit better before hand, wear a sleeveless Transition 1
Comments: I couldn't think very well. The order of things didn't flow. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions Bike
Comments: Water bottles 5..... I drank that much at Buffalo Springs doing 56miles in TX heat. The hills were killer. Straight up out of transition but you had to laugh, because it just kept going and going. So you think the worst of it is over... and it is till you get to the turn around. At first its a nice slight grade you could do all day, then about halfway through it gets steep. I started counting my pedal strokes. I allowed myself to look up every 50. It took me 3 50's to get to the top and thats once Id started counting. The rest of the way back was fine. In fact felt great. What would you do differently?: Take my coach seriously about the hills. Oh, oh, and not get refit majorly on my bike right before a race. Transition 2
Comments: I don't even remember T2 except that I don't like elastic laces. My feet swell too much. Run
What would you do differently?: Uuuuuummmmmmmm... train the bike more so I had more for the run. Otherwise I think my run hill training and running in general were sufficient. Post race
Warm down: Walking and got in the lake for a mini icebath Event comments: The number of volunteers could have populated a small city. This race was awesome. I highly suggest it too anyone, but if you want to be competitive you better put in the time and the hill work. Did I mention the volunteers were awesome!!!! There were so many, and so helpful, and excited to be there! Last updated: 2007-05-09 12:00 AM

Couldn't find my goggles, so I had to buy a new pair, sort of got a mini warmup in the water. Rode bike to transition, it was a mile from the campsite. I'm sure hotdogs pizza and doritos don't make the best pre race dinner or pizza and applesauce the best prerace breakfast, but while camping you make do.
