Overall Rank = 179/230
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 16/18
Pre-race routine:

Got into town the day before (and toured the Yuengling brewery!) Checked in, drove the bike course, had some lasagna.
Event warmup:

Little bit of stretching, walk up to the swim start.
Swim
  • 23m 19s
  • 966 meters
  • 02m 25s / 100 meters
Comments:

I'm pretty sure this was longer than the advertised distance. However, the current helped a lot. Wish I could have used my wetsuit. Kinda ticked that although they were illegal for the race (85 degrees) I saw several people wearing them anyways. Also, my chip fell off my leg halfway through! Fortunately the chip and strap floated, so I grabbed it and put it back on after leaving the water.
What would you do differently?:

Race in colder water so I can use my wetsuit! And don't let me chip fall off.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Beat the transition at my first tri by almost a minute.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, although when I move up from toe cages I will probably need to get better at T1.
Bike
  • 46m 25s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 18.74 mile/hr
Comments:

Did much better than my first tri (about 15 minutes better for the same distance). Thank you, road bike. Pretty route, little bit of wind going out, fine coming back in.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I was really happy with my ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Not bad, some schmuck zipped by and dismounted right on the timing mat which slowed some of us down. Also had someone rack their bike right in my spot.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, the things that slowed me down were out of my control.
Run
  • 28m 37s
  • 2.8 miles
  • 10m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Slow compared to most anyone else, but a good, average time for me. Much faster than my first tri (although the distance was .7 miles less)
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Had some water and accelerade. Stretched a bit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My lack of running ability/weight. Also that I couldn't use the wetsuit. I think it could have saved me 3-5 minutes.

Event comments:

I was VERY happy with my time. My last tri (Pocomoke) I finished in 2:09. My training, plus the road bike, plus knowing what to expect to a larger degree, really helped me. My wife no longer thinks I'm a moron for doing this.
