Swim
Comments: I was just so happy to make it through and I swam faster than I expected. I had some trouble with getting stuck behind some other swimmers and figuring out how to get around them. I kicked a few people and stopped to apologize - next time I will remind myself that I am in a freaking race & people expect that...but I did feel bad. I did have to swim breast stroke the entire way but that is ok - for now I am just as fast at breast as I am with freestyle. What would you do differently?: More open water swims and practice more in general. Possibly get a swim coach. Transition 1
Comments: I couldn't believe my T1 time. I was suprised it was that long - I thought I was quicker but as I described to someone, felt like a kid again forgetting to dry off after bath and getting my pjs on. What would you do differently?: Practice, practice, practice Bike
Comments: Biking is my strength so I was ok with my performance but again I think I let the "excuse me" attitude go. There were MANY people out there that did not stay to the right, which made it difficult to pass. There were several girls riding the yellow line - this was not a closed course. I enjoyed it, felt strong but that was a little frustrating and know at times held me back from passing. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive and just pass people as long as I can do so safetly. Train more on hills - made the hill but felt slow. Transition 2
Comments: I had to go to the bathroom so bad - I couldn't wait anymore. I got my stuff and went to the bathroom & headed out. Got my legs back quickly after getting off my bike - and was happy about that. What would you do differently?: Go to the bathroom before I start the race Run
Comments: I am a slow runner. I was tired but I did my best to stay running. First problem - hmm - never grabbed a water cup, drank and ran - so had to stop for some water - never thought to practice that. Had to stop 2 other times but only walked 10 paces and then did my best to just get to the end. What would you do differently?: Run more and longer. Post race
Warm down: Found my family, water, banana and held back tears. I should have stretched...note to self for next time. What limited your ability to perform faster: I am happy in general with how I did. Event comments: This was my first tri. I learned a lot from this experience, this to do differently next time, what I did right. All in all very good experience, great group of girls, volunteers and YAHOOO - I DID IT! Last updated: 2007-07-30 12:00 AM

Woke up at 3:30 a.m. to make the hike from southern NH. Ate oatmeal and a banana on my way. Listened to some music to get me pumped, while battling the fog on the road.
I actually just watched the girls going out, I was wave 13 and it was good to watch them so I could calm my nerves and figure out my strategy.
