Pre-race routine:

Got up at the ridiculous hour of 3 am as we had to be on the bus by 4 am. What a load of Disney crap. I could have driven from home and gotten up at the same time. Had an uncrustable for breakfast. We got the bus over to the staging area and waited for Jess, Terri and her uncle. We walked over to the race start and got in to our respective corrals which I think were completely randomly assigned. Had something else to eat about an hour before race start.
Event warmup:

Walking over to the start.

Comments:

I was the only one in our group in corral B. Got there about 5:30 for a 6am race start. It was Disney LOUD, but not as loud as at the oly I did there in 06 thank god. They had us move forward about 5:55 and then the "gun" in the form, of fireworks started the race at 6am.

I have to say it was WAY less crowded that at Gasparilla and WAY easier to weave thru the crowd. No idea why. I was actually able to run on the grass on the side of the road for much of the first 2 miles and pass people and keep my legs happy. I tried to use everything I learned from watching the pros at IMFL. Cut every corner, save every step you can, take the shortest path, feed off the crowd, run your own race.

I had a great 1st 2 miles but I had to PEE. I determined not to stop til I got to some porta potties without a line....towards the end of mile 3 JACKPOT but mile 3 was slower cause of that. When nature calls nature calls tho not much I could do.

Mile 4 was kind of coming into the magic kingdom. I stopped either during mile 4 or 5 (By my time I am thinking it was mile 5) to re-fill my water bottle the first time. I was sweating like a pig as usual so I knew it was important to keep hydrated. I swear I aspirated some sweat.

I was just trying to find a happy running place. My legs started to get tired about mile 6 or so. I kept talking myself into not walking. Came out of Magic Kingdom and re-filled my bottle again. Mile 7 I started walking the first minute after each mile marker. That was going pretty well, but my legs were getting tired. I was re-filling my water bottle frequently. They only had one aide station with gels so I took one there. I had taken a gel at the half way point as well. I was soaking wet. Those pictures are sure to be hideous with my shirt plastered to me.

About mile 11 my legs kind of said "ok we are DONE" and turned into rubber bands. At mile 12 they turned into 100 year old rubber bands. Passed into Epcot and Knew I was nearly done. YAY the finish line.
What would you do differently?:

I need more long runs. Overall I felt really good on this run compared to my run 2 weeks ago. I felt stronger longer. Its such a shame the cardio wise I am there its just that my legs can't keep up.
Post race
Warm down:

Chip cut off, blanket, food, they had COLD DIET COKE!!!! YAY ME :) Got my bag and laid down on the ground at the meeting place to wait for Shaun et all. Ironically we had teh same time to the second despite the fact we didn't run together. If we had run together we couldn't have done that.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My legs suck.

Event comments:

Well done race and kind of cool running thru the park. They kept you entertained with bands along the route. The aide stations were plentiful and well stocked with tones of volunteers. I would definately do it again esp as it is so close to home.

I'm going to call this a PR as the Luna chicks race isn't exactly well organized nor are the distances accurate, and I just went by my iPod+. I certainly felt a TON stronger during this race than I did 2 weeks ago so it is a triumph for me regardless of time, pace etc. Next goal is sub 2:20 and distant goal 2:10...I think I got 2:10 in me. I can say that I did my very very best and that is all anyone can ask of themselves.
