Swim
Comments: The effects of a final week cold were noticable. Felt congested starting out. This was my first wave start and had to deal with the mix of people starting off. Got kicked in the face, but it wasn't as bad as I had feared. Once we passed the turn around, the sun was blaring at us and sighting became impossible. I just navigated off of the other swimmers and hoped that they knew where they were going What would you do differently?: Swim is always my weak discipline and I will have to continue to improve. Transition 1
Comments: There was a 300 meter run from swim exit to T1 along a beat up path. Had trouble getting out of wetsuit. Haven't learned to fix shoes to bike just yet. first gel in T1 What would you do differently?: Need to learn tricks to minimize T1. Probably coulda cut at least a minute from overall time. Bike
Comments: Wanted to maintain a high mph throughout as there wasn't any real hills to speak of. But the wind caught me by surprise and I ended up going anaerobic for part of the course. What would you do differently?: Train to maintain an aerobic cadence Transition 2
Comments: Bought tri-shoes and forgot to even prepare for T2. Had one foot out of shoes and the other one unclipped. Ran with one shoe on and one still attached to bike. Spent too much time trying to recover in T2. What would you do differently?: Practice mounting bike with shoes attached and dismounting with shoes attached. Run
Comments: Again, course didn't allow for good reconnaissance. Didn't even know where I was while running. Got some bad milage data from one of the volunteers only to be dissapointed at next water point. The effects of going anaerobic on bike were quickly felt. What would you do differently?: Know the course! Hated not knowing where I was and how that related to my pace. Post race
Warm down: Really just cooled off with water and then some cytomax. Was supposed to meet the wife at the finish line, but she missed it...again. Massage wait was too long What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim for pace more. Practice transitions and remember that the clock is still running Event comments: Great event. Great location and I am sure that it took a lot to pull it off. Couple of comments: More porta-potties. Saw at least fifty people standing in line Mile markers on the run. Shuttle service from finish to transition was over taxed Last updated: 2007-10-01 12:00 AM

Had to get there early because parking was going to be a problem and it was. Had everything packed up the night before and things went smoothly. Had coffee, banana and yogurt for breakfast. Had to walk with bike and bag about a mile to get to transition area. Glad I didn't need the porta-potties there as there were not enough and the line was long...very long
Went for a 15 minute jog. No one was allowed in the water prior to race start.
