Swim
Comments: This was my first swim sinse the Chattanooga tri in July, and it turned out to be one of my best swims in a tri ever. I don't know where I pulled it out of, perhaps the extra buoyancy I picked up eating out all the time the last several weeks helped me out. I was smooth and stroking long. I focused on staying relaxed and holding a solid rhythm. Transition 1
Comments: Transition time combined with swim time Bike
Comments: My speedometer fell off my bike about 1/2 mile into the race so I had no idea how fast I had gone or how far I had traveled. I passed a guy right away into the bike, and then got passed at the end of the first lap by a guy going considerably faster than me. Other than that I felt like I was alone for most of the bike and at times I was uncertain if I was going the right direction. Transition 2
Comments: combined with run time Run
Comments: Started the run in 5th place, immediately tagged one guy, and on the front 3's way back after the turn around I saw how far ahead of me they were. I knew I was going to catch 2 of them, but thought I had no chance of catching 1st place. I didn't see the first place guy until coming out of the woods about 600m to the finish and he was only 26 seconds ahead of me. I thought he was a lot farther ahead than that. I could have tried a little more to catch him rather than look for my lost speedometer in the last mile. What would you do differently?: Finish harder, know where I was in the race Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I got a little heavy before this race, could have trained more in all disciplines Event comments: Beautiful park to have the race. Its a fairly small race and low key. Course could have been marked better for the run and bike portions. Last updated: 2007-12-28 12:00 AM
