Swim
Comments: Swim sucked - my goggles got all messed up and then it messed my contacts up - I think i would've done much better if that hadn't happened...Ended up doing breast-stroke to keep my eyes above the water line for longer, but there were people doing side stroke, so no worries there. Passed a few people from the wave before me who were using noodles. Oy. What would you do differently?: pray my goggles work better! Transition 1
Comments: I could've gone faster, but I had to take the time to fix my contact lenses. Boy was that awful! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Could've ridden harder, got stuck on the hill behind a ton of people who decided to walk - there was no chance of getting around them. A LOT of people had no idea what "On your left" meant. I think I did pretty okay for a hybrid though - definitely need to work on my hills (on the assumption the hills aren't covered with walkers) but also could've pushed MUCH harder. What would you do differently?: Pushed harder Transition 2
Comments: Some person next to me didn't know how to rack a bike, so it'd fallen on my stuff. other than that, it was good though! Again, could've gone faster... Run
Comments: Could've pushed harder, but it was fine, chatted with a girl from my swim wave and paced with her so we could chat. WONDERFUL old woman with a hose spraying the racers... Post race
Warm down: Drank a bottle of water, walked a bit What limited your ability to perform faster: being worried about "the next part" Event comments: The delay was due to outside forces... Last updated: 2008-04-14 12:00 AM

No routine as yet...it was the first one!
I did get up at 4AM, left the house at 4:30, and ate a wheat bagel with peanut butter. Race was delayed by about an hour (Huge accident involving a truck with lobsters took the police and medics away from the race site. No joke about the lobsters...apparently some restaurant stole them, too!) so I was hungry again by the start of the race...No real jitters until I was in the water, though!
