Pre-race routine:

Stayed close to Cordele in Ahsburn. Got up at 5:45 and ate some granola and a couple FRS energy chews and a PowerBar energy deal. Drove to Cordele.
Event warmup:

Stretched drank some water, set up my transition area.

Comments:

Tough swim, it was my first race. Did not like the wave entrance. I got dunked a couple times from a person climbing over me. A little chaotic. Thought at the turn around I may die. HAHA.I backstroked all the way back to shore.
What would you do differently?:

PRACTICE PRACTICE. My partner and I did alot of indoor swimming. I think with the combined adrenaline and anticipation my breathing was shot. I really need to work on relaxing. A few more races and I think Ill be much better off.

Transition was chaos. Alot of people were already gone but it was still busy in there.. everyone running like crazy. I think my transition went well. Took time to put socks on, I was in a trisuit so no need to change.
What would you do differently?:

I dont think Id change anyything. It went smoothly and I was in and out fast.

I was passed by a 65 year old! HAH. It was fun. I was a little shaky just from nrves and dropped my water bottle. Ate a gel on the race. Probably wasnt necessary. Mental thing.
What would you do differently?:

Work on hills and gear changing. I dont understand the complete concept of it just yet. i stick to 3 or 4 key gears!

I caught a bad cramp at mile 1 and had to walk about 200 yrds.. I sucked it up after that and finished the run though.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more fluid before hand and not during the actual running since it was only 3 miles.

Event comments:

All of the athletes were amazing and very supportive!! The volunteers were so great. Id definitely do the race again next year!
