Overall Rank = 78/423
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 6/22
Pre-race routine:

Tried to leave early, but locked myself out of my apartment at 5:00am while letting the dog out. Luckily, buzzing the neighbors roused somebody, and I managed to bolt down some breakfast and race to the race.
Event warmup:

No time for a warm up other than a very quick dip to make sure the water wasn't too warm for a wetsuit.
Swim
  • 13m 53s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was swimming all over the place the first 400 meters
What would you do differently?:

Practice open water swimming, with an emphasis on drafting and sighting.
Transition 1
  • 02m 3s
Comments:

My HR just SPIKED running up the beach, and I once again felt dizzy when I got to my bike. I had to hold on to keep from falling over! Need to speed this up; transition is like free time.
What would you do differently?:

Really need to figure out the dizziness thing. Practice, I guess?
Bike
  • 40m 14s
  • 12.6 miles
  • 18.79 mile/hr
Comments:

Didn't take it easy at beginning, like I normally do. I think that actually helped get my legs moving. Rollers still give me trouble.
What would you do differently?:

Keep working on the climbing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

I missed the last turn heading into T2, which threw me a little bit. Did manage to get the shoes off pretty quickly, though. Heading out of T2, I realized I didn't know where Run Out was! Ooops.
What would you do differently?:

Walk through both T1 AND T2 before the race.
Run
  • 23m 48s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Beautiful course through Amesbury. Only got passed a couple times, and caught several people. Took a gel about 5 minutes in.
What would you do differently?:

Drink some water closer to the end of the bike, so hydration isn't so hard on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

I drooled over some of the Orbea bikes, then stretched. Drooling counts, right?

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Didn't really taper or target this race, so I'm happy with the results.

Event comments:

Fun race, with amazing local support. People really came out to support the athletes, which really makes the experience for me. I'll keep this in mind for next year.
