Pre-race routine:

woke up about 4:30 am and had coffee, cereal and shower. Packed car and left about 5:30 am to head to the race. got in the area of race about 6:30 and set up T2 then drove the run course and saw finish then drove to the lake for the start and set up T1. felt pretty rushed having to set up two transitions. the walk to the start was longer than expected and I should have ridden my bike.Only one person that i saw doing body marking at the start and had to wait an uncomfortable amount of time. That said, I made it in time.
Event warmup:

walking to the start got me sweating!. I managed to get in the water and get a feel for the water temp.
Swim
  • 12m 32s
  • 525 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

the start was too bunched up and was pretty crazy out to the first bouy. Found a rhythem after that and did pretty well.
What would you do differently?:

Wish there had been a true wade start so we all could have spread out a little. We all had to go off the boat ramp and were bunched up.
Transition 1
  • 02m 6s
Bike
  • 45m 53s
  • 13 miles
  • 17.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt like I had a good ride considering the hills and head wind.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

pretty good transition.
Run
  • 31m 53s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 38s  min/mile
Comments:

good run overall. My legs were tired and my feet were hot. It is a fairly tough run course in my opinion. By the time I got to the run, it had gotten pretty hot. The big hill in the first mile was tough but I ended up doing pretty well for me.
Post race
Warm down:

drank water and walked around for a few minutes and stood in the shade.

Event comments:

My only negative comment would be the lack of body markers at the start. I enjoyed the race and felt I performed well. I improved my performance from my last race about a month ago. It was a hot race with hills and a head wind on the bike and was challenging.I will be doing this race again next year.

Course: Point to point. Run through a portion of college campus. Big long hill in first mile that really took it out of me. drink stations at each mile marker. some smaller hills in the 2nd mile and mostly flat in the last mile except right before the finish. Also, as you are coming into area of finish, you then have to run around the block before crossing the line.
