Total Time = 1h 35m 55s
Overall Rank = 262/400
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 26/33
Pre-race routine:

Arrived at 5:00, took my time getting my bike racked and signed in. Socialized
Event warmup:

Swam a little before our wave started to make sure my goggles were functioning properly
Swim
  • 19m 39s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 15s / 100 yards
Comments:

This is the first swim where I was able to freestyle the whole thing. I wound up getting trapped behind a group of slower swimmers and doggie paddlers. I'm not crazy about swimming in Kent lake because of the very low visibility. You wind up having to pick your head up way more than usual
What would you do differently?:

I would start just behind the fastest swimmers instead of the back of the pack.
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

I want to practice having my shoes on the bike already clipped in, because it takes me forever you clip in while biking.
What would you do differently?:

See above
Bike
  • 41m 1s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.18 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my best bike by over 7 minutes. The previous 2 courses I did were very challenging. It's been very windy at my house for the last 3 weeks, so I think biking in that has built up some strength. I was having some minor shifting problems because I had to switch bikes at the last minute and the bike I was on needs some tweaking.
What would you do differently?:

Really, I think I biked up to my fitness level.
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

There was a bike that the guy next to me had that fell off the rack and was in my way. I think I wasted more time trying to figure out what to do than I did finally racking the bike. That probably cost me a few second. No big deal
What would you do differently?:

Figure out how to leave my shoes on the bike like the good tri people do. I tried it once and almost fell over.
Run
  • 32m 47s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

This is my weakest event. I need to really work my running hard for next season. I seem to be stuck at over 10 minute miles. I get passed a lot on the run, that sucks!!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I used all I had left in the tank.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, ate pizza and cookies, socialized

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I think I performed up to my current fitness level. It was the race I wanted to run as my first one.

Event comments:

Very well organized and very well staffed. Everyone was friendly. I could have used more water on the run. Overall, a very good first event for Running Fit.
