Swim
Comments: For this being my first Ocean swim and the fact that it had a crazy current and descent sized surf...i was thrilled with my result. *I will say this though...distance actually swimming was no more then 200m and then we had a 2 block run to T1 (where the timing mat was) which was about another 200m... What would you do differently?: On a day like today...nothing haha! Transition 1
Comments: Good transition...my spot was somewhat in the back, but i'm happy with my TI and actually, after leaving T1 and while in the mounting area, I jumped on to the seat rather then stop and clip in one shoe (this was unexpected and never practiced and i went well...so go me haha!) What would you do differently?: Nothing...get faster! Bike
Comments: Great ride...knowing that it was short, i went out riding hard and kept that pace the entire way through! What would you do differently?: Nothing...ok get faster haha! Transition 2
Comments: Good T2...when i got into T2 and before i was @ my spot, a kid right next to me who is in my age group already had his bike racked and somehow i left before he did! Solid! What would you do differently?: Nothing...again get faster! Run
Comments: Good run...at the 1 1/2 mile mark or so, a kid in my age group passed me. I decided to sit on his heels, as his pace was slightly faster then mine. Several time he tried to lift the pace and some ground was put in between us, but i was able to reel him in. We made the final turn back and a spectator said 400m to go...i was feeling good, so i told myself to drop the hammer and see if this kid could do...i dropped him! What would you do differently?: I want to work on my pace after exiting the bike...i seem to get into a slower pace for some reason and then it will either stay that pace for the entire run or I manage to pick it up. Today I was through the 2 mile mark in 12 minutes...i'd prefer to be at that point in 11 or 11:30. Post race
Warm down: Drank water and ate a bunch of food. Walked around and went for a little jog. What limited your ability to perform faster: IDK if it limited my performance or not, but the way the race started with the long wait which took my warmup away in some way affected me. But again, no excuses because everyone had the same conditions! Event comments: Great end of my first season race for me, especially due to the fact that a good buddy of mine was in it with me...made for a great morning! Last updated: 2008-09-19 12:00 AM
