Total Time = 1h 48m 29s
Overall Rank = 641/1436
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 28/92
Pre-race routine:

Grabbed a bowl of oatmeal and rode out to Fairmount Park. I set up my transition area and stood around until it was time for the swim to start.
Event warmup:

Bike ride from home to race start.
Swim
  • 17m 56s
  • 984 yards
  • 01m 49s / 100 yards
Comments:

At the start, my goggles got knocked off and I kept getting caught behind slower people. I eventually went way wide and was able to find some open water. I was fine until the second buoy and I got caught up with a group of people from the earlier waves and kept getting tangled up with slower swimmers on the way back to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Position myself better.
Transition 1
  • 03m 9s
Comments:

This went much better than expected.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 52m 56s
  • 14.91 miles
  • 16.90 mile/hr
Comments:

My bike computer fell off during my last race and I haven't gotten a chance to replace it. I tend to rely on my computer for pace information more than I realized. On the first lap, my legs felt very heavy for some reason. I kept it in an easy gear and kept my cadence up. Eventually, they loosened up and I was able to push it a bit more. There were areas of the course where I had to slow down because there were too many people out there.
What would you do differently?:

Push it harder on the flats and downhills.
Transition 2
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

When I got back into transition, someone had racked their bike in the wrong spot. I took the time to move it so that the person next to me could get their bike in (I initially thought they were in my space, but they weren't). After I got my bike racked and went to put on my shoes, I realized that I forgot to untie them.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to untie my running shoes when I set my transition area.
Run
  • 31m 20s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 05s  min/mile
Comments:

I just need to improve my run. I'm competitive on the swim and bike but loose ground on the run. This was one of my better runs though.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed food and waited for transition to open back up so I could ride home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Life...training was great for the first couple of months and then life got in the way more often than I would have liked in May and June.

Event comments:

This a great race, but I think it is starting to get too big.
