Age Group Rank = 26/33
Pre-race routine:

Rain gave way to pleasant sunny day. Got to transition area at 6:30, set up quickly, with gear wrapped in a plastic bag (still raining at that time). Proceeded to body-marking & hang around until time to head into the pool for meeting and start. Ate a bar and water @ 1hr before swimming, as usual- mulitple trips to WC for nervous bladder...Watched and cheered for friends in earlier waves. Then suddenly time to go!!
Event warmup:

Walking and body-rolling- nothing serious- might try a little more as I felt sluggish by the time my wave (9) started
Swim
  • 12m 50s
  • 525 yards
  • 02m 26s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started my wave with the competitor in the previous wave still in the pool, I caught her just as she was getting out of the pool, got a kick in the face & goggles, and frankly never got my groove back.
What would you do differently?:

I'll be more aware of that situation, but mostly figure out a way to get back into my stroke more quickly. Should have swum between 11:30 and 11:50...
Transition 1
  • 02m 29s
Comments:

Should have skipped the layer and bike gloves- too sticky on my wet bod
What would you do differently?:

above
Bike
  • 40m 31s
  • 12 miles
  • 17.77 mile/hr
Comments:

I was a little cautious
What would you do differently?:

Blow it out- biking is my strength, I should not have held back
Transition 2
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

I don't take my feet out of shoes or jump off bike- risking a fall is stupid for me. I don't bounce well.
What would you do differently?:

I will practice these, but I can do more with just not fumbling with helmet and shoes. I should have done a goo.
Run
  • 35m 7s
  • 3 miles
  • 11m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

My feet got cold on the bike, which is bad for the circulation/ nerve damage in my repaired foot. it was like running on glass as it woke up. I walked several times as I was afraid of turning my foot on a root, since I couldn't really feel it.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to run through it- it happens sometime, and it doesn't get worse.I needed to get into a more relaxed stride and have a little more fun.
Post race
Warm down:

walk, hydrate, stretch & hug my husband, who started in the wave behind me, and caught me in T2...that'll be the last time that happens!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My brain-fart in the pool- Now I know!!

Event comments:

Most competitors took off when done- would have ben nice to have a little more going on at the end- loved the massage- needed more!!
