  • Comments: Had a lot of fun as not a lot of pressure. Not that racing for steaks is much pressure. First race without wet suit, need to practice more OWS without it. So far this year two tri's rain at both hope that doesn't hold. Ken nice to have a friendly face in the transition area. Erica did beat me on the swim but not by a huge amount. Good race and top notch organization. Thanks to all the volunteers, awesome job in the rain and heat. We pay for the pain go figure.

  • Comments: This is a great race. It is very well run and organized. Jeff does an outstanding job at putting this weekend together. Musselman half iron in 2010 was the first triathlon I ever did. It was a nightmare for me and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Over the last two years I have learned a lot, worked really hard, and my love for triathlon has grown so much. I finished that first race in just over 7 hours. It was pretty emotional for me to come back and race so well today. Thanks to all the volunteers and spectators for standing in the pouring rain to help us reach our goals.

  • Comments: The race organization and volunteers were top notch from beginning to end. Everything seemed to move very smoothly and the volunteers out on the course were great. Lots of support to go around and the community out with their hoses and sprinklers provided an additional lift. Great race.

  • Comments: The course: GREAT (hooray for scenic single loops!!!). Organization: GREAT. Aid stations: AWESOME. All volunteers: AWESOME. Citizens of Geneva who came out with hoses, bags of ice, sunscreen, cowbells, and big smiles: SUPERCRAZYAWESOME. Post-race festival: GREAT. And I love love LOVE that Jeff strives to keep this race as green as possible. Oh also, the race swag was some of the best I've gotten. Even though the heat made it less than fun, the event itself is a must-do.

  • Comments: Very well run race and the volunteers were great. The course was tough but there was great scenery along the way. I found my mind wandering towards racing it next year, which is always a good sign (especially given the pain I was in). I think we'll spend a whole week in Ithaca next year instead of just the weekend.

  • Comments: 3rd year doing this race, will probably do it again next year! The steak challenge I had with Dudley was fun, especially since I won! ;) But seriously, it gave me the motivation to train and the smack talk was fun! Thanks Dud! Rumor had it there was a beer tent at the mini mussel, not sure if I would have been physically capable of enjoying a cold draft, but might have tried!

  • Comments: This is a great family event. Sprint race and kids race on Saturday with the half on Sunday. Great venue on the finger lakes. Kids race needs a bit more organization but Tommy had a blast. The sprint and the half are very well run. Really could have used cold water at the bike aid stations.

  • Comments: Congrates Ken you rocked that course in this heat. I gotta say if this what you felt like that last two years I won't do for a third time. Kudos. Why there were not more walking dead is beyond me. I thank the volunteers as they not only handed out water, HEED, coke and ice they took a reading on everyone going by to ensure they were doing OK. Made you feel your personal coaching staff. The neighborhood folks sprayed you if needed and cheered you on well. Thanks Geneva. Mike good job on the aquabike. Anthony good job getting it down You looked much then I did that is for sure. The question is do I get to have steak as I watch Ken eat steak?

  • Comments: Thank you to the fantastic volunteers - I just can't say enough good things about them, they were all awsome. Thank you to all the townsfolk who came out with their hoses and sprayed me down, I think you saved my life. Thank you to everyone, volunteers and spectators alike, who took the trouble to read the name on my bib and lied through their teeth "Simon, you're looking great", "Simon you're looking strong" - that human touch made such a difference. Thank you to the girl who high-fived me while I was walking and told me I had it in the bag. Thank you to the ladies who prevented me from getting lost in the last two miles when I took a wrong turn in the park. Thank you to the volunteer kid who emptied the bucket of water over my head at the final aid station - that's what got me up and running again. At the finish I would have said that I had had a great swim and bike and a truly dreadful run which blew the whole day - and I was thoroughly disappointed. Then I saw the results the

  • Comments: very well run race. tons of volunteers and traffic control. well marked. course is very nice. cool lake, semi-flat bike, challenging run. neat swag. i will strongly consider this for next year, except i will stay in a hotel instead of a pop-up camper. we were still so hot after the race when we got back to the campsite that we ended up getting a hotel room for the night. the A/C was wonderful!! my performance was alot better than i thought it would be for this race. i figured my time was going to be about 20-25 minutes slower. its hard for me to gauge my finish times, and i hadnt factored in the heat. i am just thankful that my body allows me to do this.

  • Comments: This race was my first HIM and was pretty difficult due to the heat. Many people had to be helped out by medical and while I only finished 725 out 808 finishers there were many who could not finish. This being the case I am extremely satisfied with my effort, and proud of my accomplishment. I am considering what one to do next but right now I will let my legs recover this week. Thanks again to my wife Melissa who was out there in the heat as well cheering everybody on. I love you!!

  • Comments: During the run, I told myself a few times to remember how difficult it was to keep moving as this was to be my first and only HIM. It's funny, within a few hours, I was thinking about the next one! Jeff runs a phenomenal race!!! The volunteers were outstanding!!!

  • Comments: Musselman is a very good regional event with an interesting / challenging course. Like that the field is smaller (<1000). Plan to go back next year and try for sub-5!!

  • Comments: Great race. Well organized. Easy for the family to find me on the course and things for the kids to do in the park while they waited on me (such as the sprayground). We combined this race with a tour of New York (Catskills, Lake George, Erie Canal, Rochester/Lake Ontario, Niagara, Geneva). A wonderful trip and race that I would recommend to all.
