  • Comments: Great venue once you got there. Family had to walk 3 miles from the parking area. Shuttle closed early before the race and there weren't any signs after. Aside from parking and no water after the race, loved everything. Will do again, but mostly because it is so close.

  • Comments: First triathlon was a good experience. I liked the swim course and the bike course. The run course was fine in terms of being cross-country style, but could have been wider to allow for easier passing, particularly given the uneven surface. Parking at the race was bad. Finding a good venue is a tough job, given all the factors to consider.

  • Comments: Parking situation was horrible - they wouldn't even let me drive up to transition to drop off my bike and gear - had to walk over 2.5 miles to get to the Transition area. Not much for spectators to do, very little post-race activities. Post race snacks were minimal, drinks were hot - not even placed in ice, only apples, banana, and Oreos, no bagels or other carb foods. The course was pretty decent except for the speed bumps leaving out on the bike (there were probably over 100 bottles lost and lying on the side of the road by those speed bumps), and the run couse had too much gravel for me.

  • Comments: The race itself was great, but due to the lack of prep for parking and for spectator support, i downgrade this race. Also, they said they had professional parking services shuttling and directing?! They were the worst. I stood at the parking site onsite and watched 2 guys verbally duke it out how to attach a trailer to a truck. only to have it fall off when pulling away!!! no thanks- we decided to walk. My mom had to walk over a mile with me carrying her chair and cooler (since this was to be a closed race course) just to get to the transition- shame on SetUp Events!

  • Comments: Too many racers for this venue. I'm glad they moved it from Crabtree, but they should have capped it at 700. The race results were not posted after the race - don't know why. There was good food for the racers afterwards. Great race for all levels of athletes and I will be back next year.

  • Comments: Really solid race as always. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the '4-lane-cone-highway' leading to and from the park. I have to imagine that was really tough for guys starting in later waves after the course was really congested

  • Comments: Setup Events did a good job. Nice event and great volunteers. The one dowturn was that parking was terrible thus spectators could not attend unless they came with the participants. for families with young kids like mine, it's almost impossible to ask that of them or if they were to have tried to coem later and walk or ride in on the "shuttle"..no way. Need to rethink the parking mess.

  • Comments: They warned about the lack of parking; they DID NOT warn about the fact that the roads would be closed by police, so my wife and kids drove down at around 8, got road blocked and sat there for an hour. Then they finally got to the parking station to find that the shuttle had stopped (no warning on this either) so they were 3 mils from the race site. Total waste of their time. I don't mind closing the course, but Set Up EVents needs to warn people of this more than "the park closes at 7". This almost made me give the race a "1" rating, but the actual race was cool.

  • Comments: I don't know what it is about this race! I live here and don't seem to be able to srike up a good conversation with anybody. The atmosphere seems kind of cliqueish(sp). Everyone kind of keeps to there own groups and there is no breaking through. Other races I have been to are not like that. I have met some interesting people and had some good and informative converstions at other races. Oh well, I need this race to get my 5 NCTS races and save the driving.

  • Comments: This is the first triathlon that I have repeated (because it is the closest one to my house). I improved my time by 3:30 over the first time I competed, which was great! I know I still have room to improve (lots of room to improve), but I showed myself that with a more focused training plan, I can get better and better. Now to focus even more and be more disciplined than before. My first olympic is only 12 weeks away!

  • Comments: I think the hot and humid temps thwarted anything that Setup could have sched'd as a post-race activity. Most people were hitting the road as they or their loved one was finished. I APPLAUD the volunteers and course officials. They were excellent!!! In just having made the transition from tri-enthusiast to triathlete...i had underestimated the importance of volunteer-cheers for the psyche during an endurance event... they really kept me going sometimes !!! :) also having my family & friends supporting me on the course to cheer me on was priceless! XOXOXO. Overall, what a ride. 3mos base training, 3mos. real training, plagued by Mono, childcare woes, the loss of my job, and the loss of my grandmother. Under the circumstances I should of had a nervous breakdown, but instead the stress and/or grief was funnelled into training. I'm so happy I had tri-training to turn to instead of a negative outlet. I'm proud that I completed the course and maybe a moderate course was a bit of an

  • Comments: This is a fun race. First one I have done twice. Living 15 minutes from the race site it is a little unfortunate that the race has to be at the most polluted lake in the area. There are some great lakes and parks in the Raleigh area and this one does not put our best foot forward. That being said it was a well organized race as usual with lots of volunteers. I'll do it again next year.

  • Comments: Fun race - this is my second sprint. I dropped ~ 15min from Latta but the bike was shorter so given average speed on the bike, I dropped ~ 9 minutes. Looking forward to the next race and moving up in my age group!

  • Comments: ONE WORD: INCREDIBLE. I had the absolute best time in this race the whole time, it was so unbelievable. This is my only race, so it's hard to rate. There were tons of volunteers and there was tons of water, etc. The bike course was not closed but traffic cops did a great job helping out the riders. A++ I have two more races planned this year. Check out my pictures of the race on Flickr. I'm in all the ones tagged "rick".
