Training Plan Recommendations

After you fill out your athlete profile, the coaches will recommend training plans for your race and help you 'stack' several plans for your entire season.

The supported training plans are either the Silver plans or the Gold plans.  We do not support other coach's plans.

 

Weekly Training Analysis

  • The coaches will review your training log weekly and put up a review in the 'Online Coaching' forum linked to your athlete profile.
       
  • If you don't have a logged workout for the prior week, you will not get the analysis for that week - so log all of your workouts!
       
  • You can follow-up with any questions regarding the analysis in your personal coaching thread in the Online Coaching forum.
        
  • The analysis can only be as detailed as your logged workouts.  The more information the better.
 

Who Are the Coaches?

D3 Multisport Head Coach, Mike Ricci, one of the few USAT Level III coaches, was selected to write the training programs for both the Short and Long Course USA World Championship Teams.  It is Mike, along with his fellow coaches who will be working the Training Plan Support Forums.

 

Why is this so inexpensive compared to other online options?

By offering this as an add-on to the base price of a 6 or 12 month Silver or Gold membership, the coaches can actually focus on your questions.

Since you will now have access to the Silver plans or the Custom Gold Plans, the coaches don't have to spend the time creating a plan for you, we take care of that with our plan software.

 

Before You Signup

When you checkout, you will be able to choose the online support option for either the SILVER or GOLD plans.  Note that by going GOLD, you will have access to the SILVER plans too.

 

ADVANTAGES OF GOLD:

The coaches will help you pick out plans or tell you what type and how long to create a plan, they do not put them into your training log - this is how we can offer this service for $35/month.  By having you import the plans into your log, it saves them time to be able to actually coach you and answer questions.

 

The GOLD memberships will allow you to specify the days that you want your workouts to go on so you will have to do no 'customizing' once the plan is in your log.  You may have to do this customization to the SILVER plans as the workouts fall on specific days.

 

After You Signup

  1. You will receive an email and a message here on instructions on using the memberships.  Additionally all instructions and links will be in the login area for access anytime.
     
  2. The first thing you will do is fill out a detailed profile of your current abilities and planned race season in the Online Coaching forum.
     
  3. The coaches will then start recommending training plans and answering all of your questions in the forum.
     
  4. Additionally the coaches will review your log and post their review in the 'Online Coaching' forum within your Athlete Profile thread you created.

Do you find the $35/month a value?
Absolutely.  Even with the costs going up a bit when they changed recently, it is the best coaching value I have found.  I value it so much that I am on a tight budget and I would rather have the coaching support than a gym membership.  (Of course I'm also in Florida so you almost never CAN'T train outside)

Do you like the weekly log analysis?  Why or why not?
I love the weekly log analysis.  It helps me reflect on where I can improve or where I've done well.

How has the BT online coaching helped your 2011 season?
In 2010 and 2011, using the BT online coaching helped me reach just about every goal I set for myself.  I PR'd at almost every distance race I entered.

I am an athlete who faces way more challenges than the average person, from health to budget to schedule, and everyone worked so well with me.  I really can't be effusive enough about the awesome experience I've had.  It's been so great that I am not even interested in going over to Training Peaks like many of my fellow tri/cycl/run-thletes.


 

Do you find the $35/month a value?
I thought it was a great value. $35 is really nothing given the training advice, nutritional information and help with planning out a year. Over the years, I've recommended BT to over 10 people. I know at least 5 of them have signed up for the coaching service.

Do you like the weekly log analysis?  Why or why not?
Yes, I like the weekly log analysis. It is nice to have someone objectively look at my training, and say "hey, you're slacking off" or "What's going on?" Sometimes, I can get so focused on training, I would miss the forest for the trees. Having someone look over my log, made it easy to see my success and failures.

How has the BT online coaching helped your 2011 season?
For me, it was about nutrition. In previous years, I struggled with nailing down my nutrition for longer events. This year, coach helped me find a solution. I still asked questions about training. But I finally had a successful year because I learned how to fuel properly.

OH, I just thought of something. Another thing that was AWESOME was the swim training. I had mentioned in my log that I was having a problem with my swim. A few days later, training videos were posted to my log giving me drills to work on my weaknesses. AWESOME.
