"All in all, these are great shoes. I was seriously hampered in my training from metatarsal pain, and the narrow toe-box on the shoes I was wearing may have been causing it. The shape of these shoes relieved my pain almost from day 1. I am hooked on these now."MCA

Well, I guess you "install" the footbeds. There are two inserts included, depending on how much pronation control and firmness you want.

Felt great right out of the box--no break-in period required for me. That may be because I had previously run in Newtons, so the zero-drop adjustment had already been made. Altra does caution about switching to zero-drop gradually.

Seems to be excellent so far. I have put about 100 miles on them, and they show no signs of wear.

The only caution I would send out is to get a size up from your regular shoe size. I first ordered 11.5, which is my size for every other shoe I have worn since age 18, but needed a 12 for these.

Really can't describe how well these work for me. I had terrible metatarsal pain after a half-marathon earlier this season. I had been running in Newtons, which were OK but not really cushioned enough for me, and Hoka One Ones, which were very cushioned but had a narrow toe-box. My PT suggested Altras, and they are perfect--wide toe-box has eliminated my metatarsal pain, still has a zero-drop layout, and has cushioning to soften the ride.

So far, so good--haven't had them long enough to really tell.

Great value to get last-years model. The new ones are about $125, so I will wait until those go on sale.

The shape of these shoes is foot-like, which is interesting to see from the bottom. They are cushioned, but don't look like moon-boots like some of the Hokas. The colors are only OK--I had a choice between blue/gray, and green/gray.

Ride is great--not too hard, not too soft. Goldilocks zone.

Toe-box width is great for my metatarsalgia, cushioning is just right, and the zero-drop promotes a good foot-strike.

The colors are a little boring--maybe something brighter in the next model year would be nice.
