Run
Comments: My goal was to keep with the 3:25 pace group as long as possible while keeping my heart rate at or below 150. The first few miles went very well despite the 'mad dash' as someone around me called it. The pacer must have gotten a little excited around mile 13 because our split was 6:47, a full minute faster than our target pace! I was able to hang on to the group and keep my heart rate in check until mile 24. I took a look at my watch and saw that we were 2+minutes below our target finish time so I decided to ease up to get my heart rate back in check. I felt great, but wanted to take things a little cautiously after watching a friend of mine blow up during the race. What would you do differently?: Next time I'll push my pace at the end and have the confidence that my body will know what to do. Post race
Warm down: Took some pictures and talked with my family to hear all of their stories from the morning as they chased me around the course. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience, I suppose. I beat my goal time by 30 seconds, so I'm not complaining. Event comments: Overall a great race. The finisher medals were a little lacking than what they were last year, and the volunteers at the end were being a little confrontational about giving out some extra food upon request. I'll definitely be back to run this again, though. What a great course and an amazing experience. Last updated: 2011-04-11 12:00 AM

Walked about a mile from the car to the starting corrals. Stretched some, and talked with a few other runners around me.
