Swim
Comments: I had no energy when I started. I was tired from yesterday. However, I found my groove after a few minutes and felt pretty good. I saw 1 girl take off but I didn't have the energy to catch her. I felt good about it. Everyone else was way behind. That's kind of fun. :) What would you do differently?: probably get in the water and warm up. Transition 1
Comments: my right strap was too tight. Oops. Dumb error. I should have fixed that pre-race. I need to get clipless pedals soon. What would you do differently?: I need to get on and ride the bike before I race to make sure it's all set. Bike
Comments: I don't know where I was in my age group for the bike. I was the 23rd woman and 111th overall!!!! I could just improve this bike section I might be onto something. What would you do differently?: I was happier with my bike today than during my 1st tri so I'm ok. I need to ride more before lobsterman. Transition 2
Comments: I couldn't find my bike spot!!!! Duh. I felt stupid but, Mark helped me focus (hollered to me) and I made it. I had my sneakers on already so I just grabbed my hat and race #. What would you do differently?: visually remember where my bike goes next time!!! Run
Comments: My sister in law Leslie (a former Olympic Nordic skier who trained in Maine) was all over the course cheering. She knows the short cuts through the woods and she's a super fast runner so she just booked it from spot to spot and screamed for me. It was awesome. I really appreciated it. She gave us (everyone around me) the course description as we ran it. "hill ahead, long down hill after etc.) She was great. I enjoyed the run and wasn't too too dead after yesterday. It was a nice change. I chased a woman the whole way who turned out to be Erin Brennan. I went to Cape High with her and our brothers were friends. At the end, we came out of the woods and had to cross a big soccer field to the finish. Mark (my husband, so supportive) and a bunch of neices and nephews were there to scream to me. They ran across the field too. Meanwhile, two young girls (20s) came up behind me and passed me. Hey! Where did they come from? I matched their stride and we headed to the finish. At teh end of the soccer field, it was an uphill to the finish. The girl in front of me sped up. I knew I had her. I hit it into HIGH gear...full out sprint. My kids, parents in law, another sister in law, Mark's cousin and her husband were all there screaming. What awesome support!!!!! I got her. Left her in my dust. :) No really, it was just fun for this "old" mother of 3 to get the young girl. My Father in law had tears in his eyes when he came over to me. It was sweet. Fun race. I love this sport. I'm SO glad I jumped into it. What would you do differently?: I think I gave it all I had. I was pretty beat from a hard run and PR in the BEach2bEacon yesterday so I was Thrilled to pull off another success today. Post race
Warm down: water....hung out with family. Day 2 of racing was done. I was pretty slack about a good warm down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Saturday's race. Fatigued muscles. Event comments: Seemed like it was too long to wait for the award ceremony. HOwever, it was the first time I got an award at a triathlon so it might be normal! Race was at 8:00, awards around 12.
