Swim
Comments: I am still in shock at this swim time. I thought last year was a fluke and this would be much better. The ONLY thing that makes sense to me is I sight too much and drop my hips when I do so. I had no trouble with breathing and seemingly sighted OK. The last sight buoy was offline with the turn buoy and I was intentionally staying to the right on the back leg. Maybe too much? I really don't know. Hammer gel and 3 endorolytes 15 minutes prior to takeoff. What would you do differently?: Only do wetsuit legal swim races. Transition 1
Comments: I got into tansition fine but took some endurolytes (2 more) and put socks on. After the swim my bubble was blown and it was tough to focus. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: It's funny to look at my bike time on the overall list - there is hardly anyone within 10 minutes of me. One more thing the swim drags down! The bike went well but I out-smarted myself and tried some big chain ring. I think this probably took a good minute off my bike time as in typical male fashion I did not want to drop from that ring even when I knew it was hurting my hills. I have done very little big ring work so far and thought the lighter bike would compensate. Wrong again. Some calf cramps at about mile 10 that 2 endurolytes took care of. What would you do differently?: Stay out of the stupid big chain ring. Transition 2
Comments: At least 30 seconds of this transition was wrestling with 3 other bikes to get mine racked. My rack started off STUPID crowded and then a girl shows up with a mountain bike and we have to help her squeeze that thing in. Every bike was on the rack except mine it seemed. The way to fix that is get there faster! Other than that it was typical - off with the shoes, on with the running shoes, make sure the belt is on and hit the road. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
What would you do differently?: I was pleasantly surprised with this time. I knew I felt good on the run but went slow on the first lap. COming out of T2 you go up a hill and both calves started twinging. Nothing major but it took until we went in the woods until it felt OK. After that I did not go too fast as the trail was new, the dirt was loose and I felt like better safe than sorry. The 2nd lap was much faster. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Everything went well except for the swim. I've been trying for 4 years to get that better and am just about at wits end. My times were within 30 seconds of last year across all 3 segments. Only the swim was slower. I can honestly say I FELT 100% better than last year-especially post race. The endurolytes have made a huge difference in how I feel post-exercise as well as helping during training and racing. Event comments: Awesome race as usual. Lots of volunteers, good food great site for a race. My buddy the swim wizard of BOZ showed up and I got to hang out with him. It was SOO good to see Jeff and catch up. This has always been one of my favorite races because of the turnout of people I don't get to see alot of but who mean alot to me. If it weren't for tri's I would not know Jeff or lots of other people I have been blessed to meet. What an awesome sport! Last updated: 2008-07-27 12:00 AM

Up at 4:15, oatmeal and coffee with HEED.
Swim warmup prior to swim start. Good run warmup (5-6 minutes) and I knew the legs would be OK.
