  • Organised?Yes
  • Events on time?Yes

  • Lots of volunteers to help?Yes
  • Plenty of drink stations?Yes

  • Post race activities?
  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: There should be more control on the starting line-up to minimize the intermingling of casual walkers from the runners (at least the timed vs. the un-timed). A side from that traffic, it was an overall well organized race. Had a lot of fun and hope to make it a tradition.

  • Overall course based on my ability: Just right

  • Comments: The start area was staged based on estimated pace/mile and un-timed runners/walkers strollers/dogs etc. I lined up with the 9minute plus then had to struggle passing walkers, dogs and strollers. This should have been better enforced.

  • Comments: for those dallas turkey trotters that are angry with the idiots, the only reason i write this report is to tell you that IF you REALLY want to RUN, then push you way all the way to the front. i was about 10 people deep off the starting line. i have done this thing about 6 times and this is the only way to go IF you want to RUN.... the funny thing is i started with the 5:30/min milers......YEAH RIGHT........i got to FAT GUYS standing right next to me........yup, these two studs are 5:30/min milers.. ./:-) the only rules ot this run are that there are no rules.. :-)!!! it's fun if you get up to the front.....

  • Comments: Overall this is a good race- IF you are OK with 1,000's of walkers, kids and dogs being in your way when you try to run. Parking was relatively easy and so was leaving. It was cool to run through streets in downtown Dallas I usually drive, but the crowds aren't worth the hassle for me. Post race activities were nice, but the water was no where near the food. It was near impossible for me to find WATER before and after the race. Weird. Although there was tons of yogurt with no spoons to be found! I found it especially rude to see people carrying around boxes of yogurt, fruit, and water. How nice that one person could take home so much- while runners are still on the course. *Smirk* I even saw a homeless dude with a Gatorade, but I couldn't find one. I know it's Thanksgiving but I really wanted a Gatorade and couldn't get one myself. Overall it's a good race if you want to get out early on Thanksgiving morning with 40,000 other people. Can't say it's my thing. I would

  • Comments: They need to enforce the rules on dogs, walkers, & strollers so the beginning of the run isn't such a debacle. They also ran out of water at the end of the race, which shouldn't happen. Other than those two aspects, I really like this race.

  • Comments: Great race...wish there were a couple more water stations but it's hard to give water to 34,000 people so I understand. This is a must do if you are a Dallasite!

  • Comments: It was my first YMCA Turkey trot and it was enjoyable, despite the temperature. Although it is a LOT of people, it's about exercising and being outside and kind of signals the holidays are upon us. I chose this race because I just turned 40 and the trot is in it's 40th year. Now, I really don't have an excuse not to run it from here on out. D'oh.

  • Comments: These guys put on a great race. I think they should seriously consider capping the number of entries though, it's *this* close to getting unruly out there.

  • Comments: This was a fun race. I normally don't like races that have that many people but when it is 8 miles, it sure is nice to see others out there with you. I don't think I would have felt so good at the finish if Laurie hadn't kept me in line. I am a horrible pacer and running with her was great. Thanks again Laurie!!

  • Comments: This is a BIG race...37,000 people total between the 3 mile and 8 mile. It's organized extremely well for being so large. Would I do this race again? Yes, it's fun and the course is pretty good.

  • Comments: As any of you know that have read my log lately, I have not been training hardly at all since we moved here in July. I can't believe it's been so long since I've done any type of productive training. I REALLY can't believe I did so well today either. Thank goodness I had Jeanne to pace off of and take my mind off the pain. You are awesome, girl!!! It really feels great to see 8 miles on the log today. I want to keep that up, damnit. I just have to figure out a way to work it all in.

  • Comments: I gave a 5 for both mental and physical effort level. I laid everything out on the line at the race, I just didn't have much to begin with :( The Turkey Trot is a wonderful venue, over 25,000 participants this year! Maybe not the best competitive venue, but a great experience. I look forward to making it a tradition and I'll definately be ready for it next year!
