  • Comments: It was a small race so they didn't have an awards ceremony, just handed out awards as your name popped up on the results list. I ended up getting a 2nd place medal in Athena, but today when the official results were posted they had me down as 3rd place. I still feel good about my time, it just seems weird that they'd hand out medals then update stuff later. But I'm still new at this.. so maybe that's normal :)

  • Comments: An all-around good race with an easy-to-follow swim course, a cycling route that suits my modest climbing abilities, and an interesting run that features some much-appreciated shade during the initial climb.

  • Comments: I don't think this is a good race for a beginner or first-timer. Strong cyclists might not be bothered by the bike course, but it was very difficult for me as a new triathlete. However, this is probably a good race for someone who just wants one last challenge at the end of the season. It was a no-frills race (no race bibs, no goodies) but the hilly and beautiful bike course make it a good event for someone who doesn't care about all that other stuff. Distances were also off. I mapped them on Gmaps and added the correct distances to my race report. The volunteers were very nice and encouraging and the bike course was well marked, although I wish the police would have done a better job of controlling the cars coming on the course. I was frustrated that I couldn't check in at the posted check-in time, that the body markers didn't know what "Athena" meant, that the dangerous potholes hadn't been patched, that timing and results were such a fiasco (many people had T1/T2 times lumped

  • Comments: This was my first race. It was OK but not as well organized or full of swag and goodies as my gf's first race earlier this year. This course is really nice for the sprint distance, the lake is calm, the bike has decent hills and flats, with the exception of one really short really rough patch, and the new run course was nice, though as above I preferred the old one.

  • Comments: Decentg race, left me with the desire to continue into next season with only 1 change, need to make sure to give additional time to swimming!

  • Comments: Definately looking forward to continuing training and getting back into the tri scene. Thinking about Deer Creek, wishing I was able to do the Portage Lakes Tri (15 minutes from my house).

  • Comments: This was a great race and if I had been better trained on hills and bike I probably would have been much happier with my performance. But since this is only my 2nd tri ever and my 1st one dealing with any hills, it was definitely a learning experience. Now I have a time and a goal to beat for next year. I will be back!
